We are dedicated to supporting Indigenous communities in their ongoing efforts to secure and protect their inherent rights. This includes advocating for self-determination, land rights, cultural preservation, and access to justice. We provide both financial and legal support to ensure that Indigenous Peoples can protect their rights and have their voices heard on a global scale.
Our work is grounded in the belief that all people deserve equal access to human rights. We aim to strengthen the protection of Indigenous peoples through international frameworks and human rights bodies, ensuring that their human rights are respected and upheld globally.
We integrate best practices from different corners of the world to strengthen legal protection and implementation of human rights for Indigenous Peoples.
Although indigenous peoples constitute less than 5% of the world's population, they safeguard 80% of the world's remaining biodiversity, thereby playing a key role in climate protection. In addition to living close to the nature, Indigenous peoples often have a spiritual connection to nature, which ensures that they take the protection of their habitat seriously.
Through generations they have held a strong sense of responsibility for intergenerational equity – the principle that every generation holds the Earth in common with members of the present generation and with other generations, past and future. Their knowledge and practices are guided by the principle of how one’s actions will affect the wellbeing of generations to come.
